Day Eight
Friday 30th of August, 9:00am to 6:00pm
Today, I focused on areas of the site design that can be optimised for user experience.
One of these areas is the Product Library internal product search bar. The UX principles that were used to improve the search bar are scannable text, visual hierarchy, and following site conventions.
In the Product Library, a third level of horizontal navigation appears. This navigation enables users to filter their product search by product category, room category, and design category. Additionally, a search bar appears in the Product Library and acts as an internal product search.
Original Design
In the current design the search bar is aligned in the center of the page, in a separate section to the third level horizontal navigation.
Redesign
I decided to redesign these elements to include them in the same section as both these elements are used to filter products within the Product Library.
