Day Five
Thursday 22nd of August, 9:00am to 6:00pm
This morning I met with my supervisor, Miffy, and the head of the web development team, Pip. In the meeting we reviewed the site analytics to assess the effect that the implementation of the second top navigation bar has had on user interaction. The results were extremely positive as they portrayed an increase in click-out to the site content pillars. Additionally, the time of implementation corresponded with increased time on site and number of page views. The results suggest that users are finding the horizontal navigation more effective than the hamburger menu. Seeing the positive results, Miffy, Pip and I discussed further possibilities for improving user experience and responding to the types of interactions that users make on the site. In particular, the idea of redesigning the hamburger menu (main navigation) which lead us to consider swapping to a Mega Menu rather than a hamburger menu.
Miffy tasked me with creating a Mega Menu design. *Breif . For the design I will focus on streamlining the user experience design and working with Jack, creative and concept designer, to ensure that the visual design reflects the est living identity.
Designing the est living Mega Menu will involve a deep dive into the User Experience(UX) design process and the underlying principles that inform the design of interaction and information. For the Mega Menu design I will be working across all aspects of the design process, from initialisation and user research to high-fidelity design outcomes, displaying a rich understanding of design methods and the ability to apply them in context.
